Ewu’s Vaughan Second
Augusta State’s Chris Roake birdied the first hole of a playoff to edge Darin Vaughan of Eastern Washington for medalist honors at the 20th annual Wolf Pack Golf Classic, hosted by the University of Nevada.
Vaughan had back-to-back 69s on the Edgewood Tahoe course, then slipped to 75 in the final round, played at the Lightning West course. Roake caught Vaughan at 213, 3-under-par, by shooting a 73 at Lightning West.
In the team competition among 18 squads, Eastern Washington tied San Francisco and Boise State for fifth place at 890 (plus 29), well behind champion Colorado State at 867 (plus 3).
