Taking The Wraps Off

Apple grower Pat Brandt removes the first part of a two-layered bag from a Fuji apple as growers across Washington prepare for harvest. The bags, placed on each Fuji apple in the summer, keep the fruit creamy white until a few weeks before picking. The process results in apples that have bright hues of pink, making them more valuable in Asian markets. Feature Photo Service
