30,000 Subscribe To Internet Publication

Compiled From Wire Services

More than 30,000 paid subscribers have signed up since Dow Jones & Co. began charging less than three weeks ago for access to its Internet publication, The Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition.

The architects of the new service, which gives customers access via computer to stories in the Journal as well as stock prices, company background and other business and financial information, are happy with the start-up.

But analysts say it is too early to tell whether the service will be a financial success. Other newspapers have started their own sites on the Internet’s World Wide Web, but readers can view them for free.
