Klaas’ Father Accuses Politician Of Exploiting

Polly Klaas’ father is accusing a Republican congressman of exploiting the girl’s murder in a bid to get re-elected.

Marc Klaas criticized Rep. Frank Riggs for mentioning 12-year-old Polly’s slaying in a TV commercial aimed at Riggs’ opponent in the race to represent California’s North Coast, Democrat Michela Alioto.

The ad, which began two weeks ago, attacks Alioto for refusing to support the death penalty for Richard Allen Davis, the drifter sentenced to die last month for the 1993 kidnap and murder.

“Frank Riggs should stop exploiting my daughter Polly’s death to further his own political ambitions,” Klaas said in a radio spot for Alioto. Klaas has not endorsed either candidate.
