Rangers Waste Goal By Gretzky
NHL
The New York Rangers remained winless with Wayne Gretzky, losing 2-1 to the visiting Dallas Stars on Andy Moog’s brilliant goaltending performance Thursday night.
Although Gretzky scored his first goal for the Rangers, Moog stole the spotlight from the Great One with 30 saves, many of them spectacular.
His biggest save came on Gretzky, Moog’s former teammate at Edmonton. Moog made a toe save on Gretzky’s blazing shot from the left circle in the last 10 minutes.
The Rangers, off to an 0-2-2 start, were missing captain Mark Messier, who was serving the second game of a suspension for a hitting-from-behind penalty on Mike Hough in last Sunday’s game against Florida.
