Two Arrested In Freeway Shootings
Two young men were arrested Thursday after a monthlong series of freeway attacks that shattered motorists’ windows.
Jose Soto, 21, and Hugo Hernandez, 22, both from Los Angeles and both convicted felons free on probation, were pulled over by the California Highway Patrol after leaving Soto’s house Wednesday night.
A search of their van and Soto’s house turned up a sawed-off shotgun, a 9 mm automatic, an AK-47 assault rifle and at least one BB gun, said CHP Capt. Ray Blackwell.
The shattering attacks have unnerved commuters who travel the hundreds of miles of freeways crisscrossing Southern California. Most of the attacks have been within 10 miles of downtown Los Angeles. Several of the incidents are thought to have been copycat attacks.
