Police Knew Of Possible Victims

From Staff And Wire Reports

Prosecutors apparently knew of a dozen possible victims of Kerry S. Thomas in 1990 - not just five - when they negotiated a plea bargain allowing the Boise man to escape charges of knowingly spreading the AIDS virus.

Confronted at the time with evidence of his alleged crimes, Thomas blamed his accusers for failing to protect themselves, then said: “We all have to die sometime,” according to Boise Police reports released Thursday.

The reports were made public nearly two weeks after Thomas, 32, was accused of committing the same crime earlier this year while on parole from prison. He has pleaded innocent to the charge.

In the police reports, an investigator in 1990 identified at least 12 women who said they had sex with Thomas at a time when he was suspected of carrying HIV. In the end, Ada County prosecutors filed charges involving only five.
