Woman Killed, Husband Shoots Self

A woman was killed and her husband was in serious condition after what law officers believe was a murder-suicide attempt.

Vicki J. Taylor, 49, of Waterville, died Tuesday night when her husband apparently shot her in the head, Douglas County Sheriff Dan LaRoche said.

William F. Taylor, 62, then shot himself, LaRoche said. He was listed in serious condition Wednesday at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.

“He allegedly shot her in the head and attempted to commit suicide, shooting himself in the head,” LaRoche said.

After shooting himself near his left eye, Bill Taylor walked to a neighbor’s trailer to report the shooting, LaRoche said.

The couple worked as fruit pickers on the migrant circuit from California to the Northwest.
