Drop Out, Lose Your Driver’s License

Associated Press

Some Idaho students are in danger of losing their driver’s licenses because they have dropped out of school.

The last Legislature passed a law last winter linking school attendance to driver’s licenses. Gov. Phil Batt allowed it to become law without his signature.

He said he would watch the new law closely to determine if any changes are needed.

Reed Hollinshead, a Department of Transportation public affairs specialist, said school districts statewide have asked the department to suspend 49 driver’s licenses.

The department is sending notice to the dropouts, warning them their licenses are in jeopardy.
