Arthur Reddekopp St. Maries
Memorial service for Arthur David Julian Reddekopp, 83, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the St. Maries Presbyterian Church. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Reddekopp, who was born at Shay Hill near St. Maries, died Saturday.
He was raised and educated at Shay Hill, graduating from St. Maries High School in 1931. He later worked as a logging truck driver and for the Civilian Conservation Corps and U.S. Forest Service camps.
Mr. Reddekopp became a partner of Reddekopp and Sons Logging Co. and later Reddekopp and Apple Sawmill. He had also worked as state fire warden for the West St. Joe District from 1949-1958 and was assistant logging supervisor for St. Maries Lumber Co. for 14 years.
He moved to the Valley Vista Care Center in 1990.
Mr. Reddekopp was a member of the St. Maries Masonic Lodge No. 63, York Rite Bodies, Calam Shrine Temple and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a former member of the St. Maries Elks and Eagles lodges, the Benewah County Sheriff’s Posse, Paul Bunyan Days Committee and the Benewah County Republican Central Committee.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine; two sons, Marshall Reddekopp of Renton, Wash., and Lynn Reddekopp of Lewiston; a sister, Roselyn Stone of California; and five grandchildren.
