Edward Franks Springdale, Wash.
Service for Edward Anthony Franks, 85, is planned for 1 p.m. today at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah, Wash. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery.
Mr. Franks, who died Thursday, was born in Springdale.
He farmed in the Springdale area and logged in Stevens County.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Camas Valley Grange.
He and his wife, Irene, who died in 1980, were Grand Marshalls of Springdale Frontier Days in 1978.
Mr. Franks is survived by three sons, Dick Franks of Valley, Wash., Glen Franks of Springdale and Jim Franks of Greenacres; four daughters, Audrey Gerky, Janet Wiles and Lillian Bowen, all of Spokane and Sharon Rice of Kennewick; a brother, Bill Franks of Ritzville, Wash.; a sister, Fritz Qualls of Spokane; a special friend, Betty Joyce Shockley of Springdale; 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
