Motorists Told To Beware Of Phony Police Officer
The Kootenai County sheriff’s office is warning motorists to beware of a man who may be posing as a police officer.
A Coeur d’Alene woman reported being stopped by a car with blue flashing lights Oct. 16 in the 5500 block of Government Way. A white adult male, dressed in dark blue, ordered her out of the car and frisked her.
He then told the woman to go back to his car and face away from her car. When she looked back at her car, she saw the man inside and challenged him.
He told her to shut up, according to a report filed with the sheriff’s office. She continued to challenge him and he told her to leave.
Then the man left in a newer model car with a black stripe down the side.
He is described as being in his late 30s or early 40s, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 250 pounds. He is muscular, not fat, has a thick neck and brown hair.
