New Boston Market Opening On Division
Construction of the newest Boston Market restaurant is under way on the North Side, where owners expect to begin serving their famous rotisserie chicken in late December.
Located at the intersection of Division Street and Wedgewood Avenue near Eagle Hardware and Garden, the 3,000-square foot restaurant will be the fourth to open in Spokane. Number five is expected to open in January in Lincoln Heights.
Along with the chicken, the restaurant specializes in turkey, ham and meatloaf. About half of the restaurant’s business is take-out. BC Northwest Inc., which holds the Boston Market franchise rights in Washington and Oregon, is leasing the property from Spokane developer Harlan Douglass.
‘Monster Mash’ at mall
Franklin Park Mall will host a “Monster Mash” Halloween trick-or-treat party tonight from 5 to 7 p.m.
Candy, games and prizes are free for children. The Spokane Optimist Club is sponsoring a haunted house, and Burchett Studio will capture the costumed guests on film.
New look for Taco John
Regulars at North Side Taco John restaurants will notice a few changes in coming weeks as a new owner, Cross Enterprises, updates the interiors and revises the menu.
“We are trying to bring them out of the ‘70s and into the ‘90s,” said owner Gary Cross, who bought three of the four Spokane Taco John stores this summer.
That means down with wood paneling, up with wallpaper and fresh paint in the corporation’s official “Siesta” color, said Cross.
An atrium will be added to the Francis Avenue restaurant, and possibly to the Monroe Street store, which now offers only takeout.
The new menu includes a shredded beef taco, and a meat and potato burrito.
Cross said Taco John is among the largest taco chains in the country.
