John Thomas, founder of Fishing Holes magazine and the author of the Luhr Jensen tackle company’s Tech Reports died recently at the age of 51.

Thomas pooled his fishing knowledge with Buzz Ramsey at Hood River, Ore., to write the first 20 Tech Reports with detailed instructions for using the Luhr Jensen lures to catch everything from trout to walleyes.

More than 10 million free copies of the reports have been distributed.

Thomas was deeply involved in fisheries issues, serving as president of the White Salmon Steelheaders and as advisor to the Washington Fish and Wildlife Department’s fisheries committees.
