Boxer Faces Tax Charge
Mexico’s Treasury Department said it was seeking the arrest of boxer Julio Cesar Chavez and two associates, saying they were wanted for prosecution of alleged tax fraud.
A government communique said a formal complaint was presented to the federal Attorney General’s Office against Chavez in his role as president of the administrative council and leading partner in a company known as Gonzalez Carrasco, S.C., one of several businesses he owns in the country.
The 1st District Court judge in Chavez’s hometown of Culiacan issued the arrest warrant against him and his associates, Daniel Viesca Monsivais and Jaime Vicente Garate Urena, the statement said.
Chavez’s whereabouts were unknown.
