Eight Suspected Of Selling Children

Compiled From Wire Services

Police on Saturday arrested eight people suspected of trafficking Somali children for adoption in North America and Europe.

Police allege that the suspects, including three Somali-Italian couples, sold the children, ranging in age from 6 to 12 years, for as much as $33,000, said a Rome police official, Rodolfo Ronconi.

A small amount of the money was given to the children’s parents in Somalia, police said.
