Handsaw Put To Cabdriver’s Neck

From Staff Reports

Two men attacked a cabdriver with a handsaw near Spokane’s Highbridge Park late Sunday, police said. The driver was treated by paramedics but declined hospital care.

He told police he responded to a call on East 31st in the Valley. Two white men in their late teens or early 20s directed him to the Highbridge area, saying they were meeting a friend.

After driving around Government Way and the Spokane Falls Community College area, the driver stopped and ordered the men out.

He said one of the men grabbed him from behind and began cutting his neck with a handsaw.

The driver wrestled the saw away and chased off the two.

Police recovered several pieces of evidence, including the saw and some clothing.
