Obituaries

Isabel Enders Kent, Wash.

Visitation for Isabel L. Enders, 83, will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Committal service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Enders, who was born in Tenstrike, Minn., died last Wednesday.

She had worked in Spokane at Sacred Heart Medical Center in the central supply department.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, St. Francis Xavier Church Guild, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kent, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1981.

Survivors include her daughter, Joan Morgenstern of Kent, Wash. and a granddaughter.

Norma Weber Ritzville, Wash.

Funeral service for Norma Weber, 76, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville, Wash. Interment will follow at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Weber, who was born in Paha, Wash., died Sunday.

She was a graduate of Ritzville High School. She worked for Myers and Shipley and the Ritzville Trading Co. She then worked for Big Bend Electric. Mrs. Weber and her husband owned Chevron Oil Co. for 20 years. She then worked as a secretary for the Emanuel Lutheran Church for seven years and as a bookkeeper for more than 14 years at Ritzville Drug Company. She retired in 1982.

She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church and the C.J. Newland American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Reinhold “Reiny” Weber of Ritzville; a daughter, Sandra Knauer of Dallas, Texas; a son, Robert Weber of LaGrande, Ore.; a sister, Helen Pierce of Spokane; and a brother, Daryl Plager of Redmond, Wash.

Hugh Shelley Spokane

Funeral Mass for Hugh S. Shelley, 72, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery with military honors. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home-Valley is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hugh, who was born in Veradale, died Sunday.

He graduated from Central Valley High School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He owned and operated Shelley’s Repair Service for 28 years before retiring in 1991.

Mr. Shelley was a member of Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 1435.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Hazel; a son, Thomas Shelley, and a daughter, Marsha Shelley, both of Newman Lake; a sister, Laura Gwinn of Spokane; two brothers, Marcus Shelley of Spokane and Francis Shelley of Port Orchard, Wash.; and a grandson.

Chris Mitchell Spokane

Graveside service for Chris Mitchell, 77, will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, she died Monday.

Mrs. Mitchell came to Spokane from Ireland in 1945 with her husband, Robert Mitchell, who was in the U.S. military. She became a citizen in 1958. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Paschal Catholic Church.

Her husband of 40 years died in 1985.

Survivors include her two sons, Roy and Roger Mitchell, both of Spokane, and five grandchildren.

Ronald Sherman Spokane

Memorial service for Ronald Sherman, 80, was Monday at St. David’s Episcopal Church. Cremation preceded. Riplinger Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Sherman, who was born in Penponds, England, died Friday.

He was raised in Detroit and then joined the Army Air Corps. He served in the Air Force for 24 years before retiring in 1966.

Mr. Sherman was a member of the National Rifle Association, Moose Lodge, Spokane Rifle Club, Spokane Mountaineering Club and the Spokane Astrological Society.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen, of Spokane; a sister, Marge Chegwidden of Lansing, Mich.; and a brother, John Sherman of Bend, Ore.

Martha Cusick Anderson Island, Wash.

Memorial service for Martha Lucille Cusick, 76, was Monday at Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cusick died Thursday.

She was born in Terre Haute, Ind.

She moved to Spokane in 1945 and married Charles Cusick in 1947.

She was a medical technologist at Associated Internists until she retired and moved to Anderson Island, Wash., 17 years ago.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Gabriel Poll of Mercer Island, Wash.; a son, Gregory Cusick of Spokane; a sister, Virginia Kieffaber of Safford, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.

Price Johnson Kellogg

Memorial service for Price W. Johnson, 79, has been held. Inurnment was private. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson, who was born in Oronogo, Miss., died Thursday.

He worked as a shift supervisor at the Bunker Hill Co. and was a member of the 20-Year Club at Bunker Hill.

He fought as an Army infantryman in the European Theater during World War II. He belonged to the Osburn Veterns of Foreign Wars Post and the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include two daughters, Billie Kuisti of Veradale and Ginger Behrens of Bellevue, Wash.; two sisters, Nettie Miller of Fort Smith, Ark., and Mary Gilbert of Galena, Kan.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ann Kelling Spokane

Service for Ann M. Kelling, 94, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Kelling, who was born in Prairie DeChien, Mich., died Saturday. Mrs. Kelling was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Mort Evans, who died in 1932, and George Kelling, who died in 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Kelling of Greenacres and Willard Evans of California; two stepdaughters, Evelyn Martin and Rozella Ferguson, both of Oregon; a stepson, Robert Kelling of Idaho; a sister, Alice Manning of Spokane; 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Vera Madsen Spokane

A private service for Vera L. Madsen, 89, will be held today. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Madsen, born in Mondovi, Wash., died Friday.

She and her husband, Chris, farmed in Desmet and Plummer, Idaho, for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by her two sons, Glenn Madsen of Plummer, Idaho, and Neil Madsen; three sisters, Lorena Howlett of Spokane, Dorothy Gannaway of Austin, Texas, and Alice Schutz of Usk, Wash.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Leo Zelker Hayden, Idaho

Graveside service for Leo Zelker, 82, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Zelker, who was born in Kinsk, Poland, died Sunday.

He owned Drobkins Deli in San Francisco for several years. He moved to Hayden, Idaho, more than 20 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Regina Zelker; a daughter, Ann Legasa of Coeur d’ Alene; a brother, Hershel Zelker of Israel; and a granddaughter.

Elaine Mullowney Bockmier Spokane

Funeral Mass for Elaine Mullowney Bockmier, 70, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Hennessey Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Mauston, Wis., she died Sunday.

A 30-year resident of Spokane, she worked for the federal Bankruptcy Court as a deputy clerk before retiring in 1991.

Survivors include a son, John Mullowney Bockmier of Spokane; a daughter, Denice Bockmier of Spokane; a sister, Lucille Carton of Baltimore; a brother, Leo Mullowney of Vancouver, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Lauren Humphrey Ritzville, Wash.

Memorial services for Lauren Humphrey, 89, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Edwall United Methodist Church in Edwall, Wash. Family graveside ceremony will precede the service. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., is in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Reardan, he died Sunday.

Mr. Humphrey worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Spring Creek Grange.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bessie; three sons, Alvin Humphrey of Vashon Island, Wash., John Humphrey of Greeley, Colo. and Leland Humphrey of Ione, Wash.; four daughters, Esther Anyan of Edwall, Wash., Elaine Cairns of Spokane, Lucille Pyle of Ritzville and Yvonne Mills of Seattle; 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Ida Babcock Spokane

Service for Ida L. Babcock, 85, will be 11 a.m. today at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Born in Schrag, Wash., she died Saturday.

After her marriage to Ernest Babcock, she moved in 1932 to Spokane, where she was a homemaker. He died in 1989.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Johnson; a son, Eugene Babcock; a sister, Emma Albershart; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
