Peter Wunsch Ione, Wash.

No service for Pete Wunsch, 83, will be held, at his request. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Spokane, he died Tuesday.

He served in the tank corps in the European Theater during World War. He worked for the Spokane Metals Company as a truck driver until he retired in 1975.

Mr. Wunsch was a member of the Spokane Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign War, Metaline post.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia; a son, Keith Wunsch of Spokane; a daughter Serena Dickamore of Ritzville, Wash.; a brother William Wunsch of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Richard Stannard Spokane

Memorial service for Richard C. Stannard, 55, will be at 4 p.m. today in the Cowles Auditorium at Whitworth College.

Mr. Stannard, who was born in Potlatch, Idaho, died Sept. 4.

Mr. Stannard was the principal at Audubon Elementary School in Spokane for almost eight years. For 31 years he worked as a teacher and principal in Spokane schools.

He was a member of the National Principal Association and Spokane Principal Association.

He is survived by his wife Susan; a son, Jeffrey Stannard of Kent, Wash.; a daughter, Julie Stannard of Japan; his parents, Lloyd and Ruth Stannard of Spokane; a brother, Bruce Stannard of Troutdale, Ore.; a sister, Janet Kuntz of Spokane; and a grandson.

Hazel Alberts Spokane

No services will be held for Hazel Alberts, 87, at her request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Alberts, who was born in Salem, Idaho, died Sunday.

She operated Broadway Foods Grocery Store in Spokane and raised dairy cattle in Laclede, Idaho.

Survivors include a daughter, Deanna Nelson; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army of Spokane or the charity of one’s choice.

Freda Enfield Spokane

Service for Freda Enfield, 98, will be at 3 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Riverside Mausoleum at Riverside Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Enfield, a 92-year resident of Spokane, died Saturday.

She was a musician for the Eastern Star and Shrine. She worked as a civilian procurement officer for Air Force Base Supply.

She was a member of Order of Eastern Star Spokane Chapter No. 163, Bethel White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 6, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees No. 22 and was a 37-year member of Westminster Congregational Church.

Survivors include stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

John Slater Coupeville, Wash.

Cremation services were held for John W. Slater, 78, under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor, Wash.

Mr. Slater, who was born in Wurtsboro, N.Y., died Sunday.

Mr. Slater joined the Army Air Corps in 1938, serving as a B-24 tailgunner. He married Edith Sugden in 1942. He retired as a staff sergeant in 1945. After his military service, he worked for Carstens Highgrade in Spokane for eight years. He then worked for Kaiser Aluminum until he retired in 1980.

He is survived by his wife, Edith, of Coupeville, Wash.; three daughters, Sara Campbell of Spokane and Rosalie Goeltzenleuchter and Elena Slater, both of Coupeville; a stepsister, Madelene Lehman; a stepbrother, James Soules; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Margaret Hoover Spokane

Memorial service for Margaret I. Hoover, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.

Mrs. Hoover, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Aug. 28.

She was a graduate of North Central High School. She was employed by Peters and Sons as a floral designer and later by Sunset Florists. She married Hubert Hoover in 1941.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Hoover of Olympia; her daughter, Marlene Huntsinger of Portland; and six grandchildren.

Delbert Shaw Medical Lake

Graveside service for Delbert L. Shaw, 63, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Lutheran Church in Medical Lake, 223 S. Hallett. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Shaw, born in Spokane, died Saturday.

He went to work for Inland Motor Freight in 1955 and retired in 1990.

He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Medical Lake and Teamsters Union Local No. 690.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Inez; three sons, Tom, Jerry and Matt Shaw, all of Spokane; a sister, Bernida Ashback of Spokane; two brothers, Elvin Shaw of Davenport, Wash., and Alvin Shaw of Spokane; and ten grandchildren.

Violet Olson Spokane

Visitation for Violet E. Olson, 85, will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Service will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private interment will be at the Pines Cemetery.

Born in Deer Park, she died Tuesday.

Mrs. Olson was a graduate of Deer Park High School. She married Carl Olson in 1938.

Mrs. Olson retired from the District 81 Food Service Department in 1976 as a cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972.

Survivors include her two sons, Robert and Dennis Olson, both of Spokane; a daughter, JoAnn Thomas of Galion, Ohio; a brother, Cecil Derr of Deer Lake, Wash.; two sisters, Iva Louderback of Spokane, and Thelma Naff of Colville, Wash.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Foundation.

Willis Moe Spokane

Service for Willis G. Moe, 79, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Moe, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Tuesday.

He was an equipment operator in road construction and a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local No. 370 for more than 47 years. He was also a member of the Three C’s after World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 20 yers, Lois; two stepsons, Steven Zehetmir of Saudi Arabia and Greg Zehetmir of Rice, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Vicki Folk and Carol Halabordo, both of Spokane; two sisters, Dorothy Berg of Spokane and Betty Girdler of Bend, Ore.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Spokane.

Leoti Treadwell Spokane

No services will be held for Leoti L. Treadwell, 91, at her request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A 51-year Spokane resident, she died Tuesday.

She worked as a teacher for District 81.

Mrs. Treadwell was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Retired Teachers Association, National Retired Teachers, The Spokane Club, Homemakers Association, Ladies of Oriental Shrine, and American Association of Retired Persons.

She is survived by her daughter, Janyce Hayne of Spokane.

Dennis Quast Huntington, Ore.

Service for Dennis D. Quast, 61, was held Tuesday in Huntington, Ore.

Mr. Quast, who was born in Odessa, Wash., died Thursday of complications from prostate cancer.

He graduated from Odessa High School and attended Washington State University before dropping out to serve in the Army during the Korean War.

He was stationed in Germany before being discharged in 1956. He then went to work on a ranch in Colorado before graduating magna cum laude from Whitworth College in Spokane.

Mr. Quast bought a ranch near Cheney before settling on a ranch in Huntington, Ore., where he ranched for 27 years.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Janelle; a son, Tim Quast of California; two daughters, Linda Bentz of Long Island, N.Y., and Heidi Quast of Ontario, Ore.; his parents, Lawrence and Emma Quast of Odessa; a brother Verl Quast of Puyallup, Wash.; two grandchildren, Kristal and Ethan; and two nieces.

Alvin Kleinknecht Mead

Service for Alvin L. Kleinknecht, 59, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of Flower Riplinger Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Kleinknecht, who was born in Scotia, Wash., died Sunday.

He was a graduate of Newport High School. He was in the Air Force and worked as a track welder for the railroad.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435, the Washington Air National Guard and the Retired Air Force Sergeants Association.

He is survived by his wife, Elverna; three daughters, Sheryl Kleinknecht of Mead, and Kathy Kleinknecht and Karen Ehr, both of Spokane; and brothers and sisters.

Donovan “Slim” McGraw Bonners Ferry

Service for Donovan Paul “Slim” McGraw, 90, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bonners Ferry. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McGraw, who was born in Nebraska, died Tuesday.

He grew up and was educated in Nebraska, going on to attend Kearney State Teachers College for one year. He worked as a mechanic and farmed until moving to Bonners Ferry in 1935. He operated a dairy farm in Bonners Ferry and put in power lines as well as working in construction.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mabel; five children, Robert McGraw and Norma Robertson, both of Bonners Ferry, Donna Dotson of Spokane, Harold McGraw of California, and Gerald McGraw of Camas, Wash.; two sisters, Helen Louthan of Colorado, and Cleda DeBoer of Federal Way, Wash.; 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the Bonners Ferry Community Restorium.

Betty-Lou Butler Coeur d’Alene

Private family memorial service for Betty-Lou Butler, 74, will be held at a later date at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Butler, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1988 and played keyboards for the The Sounds of Four, a local band, for many years.

She was a past member of the Brotherhood of Friends in Spokane.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, James; two daughters, Lin Oliverson of Greenacres and Maureen Hathaway of Federal Way, Wash.; and one granddaughter, Joel Hathaway of Federal Way.

Ramona Sisson Mullan

Service for Ramona Jean Sisson, 58, will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wallace. Burial will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Mullan. Shoshone Funeral Service in Wallace is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Sisson, who was born in Wallace, died Monday.

She had lived in the Silver Valley most of her life and had owned the Last Chance Tavern in Mullan at one time. She also was a flagger for construction, a waitress at the Broken Wheel Restaurant in Kellogg and a housekeeper for St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Ms. Sisson was a homemaker and a religious instructor at St. Alphonsus Church and was a member and past president of the Wallace Eagles Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Franklin Sisson of Colorado, Joseph Sisson of Republic, Wash., and Patrick Sisson of Mullan; three daughters, Victoria Peterson of Alaska, Maria Manz of Wallace and Elizabeth Murphy of Mullan; a brother, Ronald James of Shelley, Idaho; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Mullan Volunteer Fire Department.

Alycia Stevens Spokane

Memorial service for Alycia L. Stevens, 17, was Sunday at Shiloh Hills Baptist Church.

Miss Stevens, who was born in Rome, N.Y., was killed in an automobile accident Aug. 18.

She was a senior at Shadle Park High School, where she was a member of the bowling team. She also was a member of the Young American Bowling Association program and competed on the Junior Bowler Team.

She is survived by her parents Teral and Debbie Stevens of Spokane; and two sisters, Teri and Heather Lee, and a brother, Lewis Stevens, all of Spokane.
