Arrest Breaks Up Software Piracy Ring
Federal prosecutors on Tuesday announced the arrest of a key suspect in a software piracy case involving the sale of $3 million in bogus Microsoft programs.
Joe Huong, 34, and four other suspects allegedly made 200,000 illegal copies of Microsoft Corp.’s MS-DOS and Windows programs.
Huong, a native of Taiwan, was arrested Saturday at Los Angeles International Airport.
He was arraigned Monday in Los Angeles. Two other defendants are believed to be out of the country, and the remaining two are expected to turn themselves in during the next two weeks, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Leland B. Altschuler.
