Business Executives See Continued Growth

From Staff And Wire Reports

Executives in the manufacturing and construction industries expect continued growth over the next three months, Dun & Bradstreet Corp. reported Friday.

Manufacturers see strong growth while construction executives foresee moderate growth, according to two separate surveys done in August by the business information company.

“Manufacturers are clearly encouraged by high employment levels, strong consumer confidence and the absence of rapid inflation,” said Joseph W. Duncan, vice president and chief economist of Dun & Bradstreet.

Meanwhile, construction executives expect production schedules through November to remain well above seasonal norms, though they do not foresee a return to the rapid growth seen during the summer building season.

The company surveyed 1,000 manufacturing executives and 200 from the construction industry.
