Supercomputer Pioneer Injured

Compiled From Wire Services

Supercomputer pioneer Seymour Cray suffered critical head injuries in a three-car interstate accident Sunday.

Cray, 70, who founded Cray Research Inc., and Cray Computer Inc., was driving a 1995 Jeep Cherokee and had just entered the southbound lane of Interstate 25 when the accident happened, State Patrol Sgt. Rob Wilson said.

A car following Cray’s vehicle pulled out to pass him and clipped another car in the lefthand lane, forcing it onto the highway shoulder, Wilson said. It struck both the first car and Cray’s Jeep.
