Morrison Hearing Set
Heavyweight Tommy Morrison, who last week announced his return to boxing, was scheduled for a hearing today in Jay, Okla., on a misdemeanor charge of transporting a loaded firearm.
Police said they found a loaded .22-caliber pistol in Morrison’s car in July. Authorities had to tow the car after Morrison suffered a medication-triggered seizure while stopped at a traffic light.
A Detroit woman alleges Washington Bullets all-star forward Juwan Howard, who signed a seven-year, $105 million deal with the Bullets this summer, is the father of her 4-1/2-year-old son, and she is seeking interim child support of more than $11,000 per month and $50,000 in legal fees, according to a lawsuit she filed in a Michigan court.
Howard denies the allegation.
Boxer Mike Tyson’s surrogate mother and current trainer both said that mentor Cus D’Amato planned to fire ex-trainer Kevin Rooney but didn’t get the chance before dying in 1985.
Rooney, whose $49 million lawsuit against the heavyweight champion is being tried in federal court, claims Tyson promised him a job as his trainer for life.
After also bringing in boxer Bobby Czyz to testify, Tyson’s lawyers wrapped up their defense.
Old Dominion basketball star Joe Bunn was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery after his former girlfriend told university police that Bunn repeatedly punched her during an argument.
A woman identified as Holly Rivers said Bunn hit her in the head, body and facial area with a closed fist about 5 a.m. Monday, according to an ODU police report released by the school.
