Christmas Stamps Are Going North

Associated Press

This year’s contemporary Christmas stamps will be released at the North Pole - North Pole, Alaska, that is.

The ceremonies are scheduled for Oct. 8, the Postal Service said Friday, with Postmaster General Marvin Runyon presiding and a pack of state officials on hand.

Images of Christmas trees, presents and Santa going down the chimney decorate this year’s stamps, which Runyon called snapshots of families in holiday activity.

The contemporary stamps feature a block of four family scenes and there is a separate stamp featuring a skater.
