Ranked Heavyweights Fill Key Roles On Boxing Card

According to one set of heavyweight rankings, three of the world’s top 50 heavyweights will be in action tonight on a boxing card at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Bingo/Casino.

Five of the seven bouts will feature heavyweights. The fights begin at 7:30. Tickets were moving briskly Wednesday.

Ferguson, No. 34 in one ranking service, is 22-16-0; Williams is 16-4.

The other headline bout pits Philadelphia’s Terrence Lewis, 20-1 with 17 straight wins, against San Diego’s Levi Billups (19-12-1). Lewis is rated No. 50.

Other heavyweight matches include Danell Nicholson (24-3) of Chicago vs. Marcos Gonzalez (17-8-1) of Mexico, Howard Sconiers (2-0) of Florida vs. Terrance Coffin (0-1) of Kansas City, and Michael Rush (11-2-1) of Tampa, Fla., vs. Dale Grant (24-10-2) of Seattle.

The undercard includes Spokane cruiserweights Frank Vassar (6-0) and Rick Welliver (4-1). Vassar faces Canadian Dean DeLuca (4-2). Welliver encounters Washington-based Tex Miles (1-3-1).
