Mudslide-Damaged Bridge To Reopen Ahead Of Schedule
The Magnolia Bridge will reopen in June, one month earlier than expected, city officials said Friday.
“We feel we can meet this date if the weather cooperates and we don’t have any more problems with unstable soils,” said Councilman Richard McIver.
A Jan. 2 mudslide swept away the bridge’s steel supports, and they must be replaced before the bridge can reopen.
Work on the steel supports is under way, along with construction of retaining wall.
McIver said quick work by contractors is responsible for the more optimistic schedule for the bridge reopening.
