Police Rescue Tire Exec’s Daughter Man Faces Kidnap Charge In Abduction Of Young Bruneel

Associated Press

A man who police believe burst into a prominent family’s home and kidnapped a 5-year-old girl has been arrested.

The daughter of Craig and Pam Bruneel was released unharmed Friday afternoon after police stopped the suspect’s car on Boise’s northwest side. The girl had been held for 26 hours.

Craig Bruneel is president of Bruneel Tire Co., which operates 11 tire stores in Idaho and Washington. Craig Bruneel’s father, Frank Bruneel of Lewiston, owns the tire business and is a Republican state representative.

Police arrested Robert S. Fackrell, 33, of Boise, and plan to charge him with first-degree kidnapping. He surrendered without resistance.

“The girl jumped up in the front seat of the car and looked at the officers,” said Doug Schoenborn of the Boise Police Department’s special operations unit. “She appeared to be extremely relieved at our presence.”

Boise Police Chief Larry Paulson said money appeared to be the motive. He said there appeared to be no relationship between the family and Fackrell, but investigators did not yet know whether the man had targeted the Bruneels because of their well-known name.

The abduction occurred at midday Thursday in a quiet neighborhood on Boise’s west side. The suspect allegedly gained entry to the family’s home by knocking on the door and telling Pam Bruneel he had a delivery.
