Snowmobiler Dies At Tribute For Man Who Died In Avalanche

One snowmobiler was killed and a second injured on Saturday during a tribute to honor a snowmobiler who died in an avalanche last month.

The accidents occurred on South Baldy Mountain near Newport, where about 75 snowmobilers had gathered on Saturday.

The gathering was to raise money for the family of Troy Douglas of Priest River, Idaho, who died in an avalanche last month, television station KXLY of Spokane reported.

The identities of the dead and injured rider were not immediately available.

The Pend Oreille County sheriff’s office declined to release any details of the accidents.

The television station reported that the accidents occurred when the drivers lost control of their snowmobiles on a sharp turn in slushy conditions. , DataTimes
