Son Arrested After Dad Dies Of Heart Attack
A 34-year-old man is in custody on a second-degree murder charge this weekend after his father died of an apparent heart attack during a domestic dispute.
Police arrested Ziva Filipov late Friday after being called to 1170 Day St. at 7:46 p.m., according to police.
Filipov was arrested initially on a charge of domestic battery for allegedly causing his father, 70-year-old Milorad Filipov, to have a heart attack.
Milorad Filipov died at Kootenai Medical Center later in the evening, and police then charged his son with second-degree murder, explained Sgt. Don Ashenbrenner.
“He was not beat up,” Ashenbrenner said of the elder Filipov. “There was some physical violence, probably some shaking, something of that nature. But he wasn’t beat up.”
Ziva Filipov is being held at the Kootenai County jail without bail until his first appearance Monday. He was nearing the end of his two-year probation after being convicted for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Filipov appeared to have lived part time with his parents, according to neighbors.
