Luckily, She’s Used To Dealing With Meatheads
It’s been a long time since “All in the Family,” or even those pitiful little kid commercials, but people still recognize Sally Struthers.
Problem is, they tend to recognize her as somebody else.
“People get me confused with everyone,” said Struthers, now appearing as the cranky teacher in “Grease!” in Beverly Hills.
“I have been chased through two separate airports with people screaming, ‘Charo, Charo, we love you!’ I have been asked if I’m going back to ‘Dallas’ - people think I’m Charlene Tilton.
“People think I’m Loretta Swit or Shelley Winters. Then people think I’m Gloria (the name of her ‘All in the Family’ character), and they know I’m famous so they think I’m Gloria Steinem.
“I answer to anything now,” she said. “I sign whatever they want.”
Loose talk
Jenny McCarthy, on her Oscar-night triumph (in Entertainment Weekly): “We went to Burger King and chowed down a Whopper with cheese, fries and a Coke, and I didn’t get it all over my dress.”
Or maybe he’s actually Donald Sutherland
Wayne Rogers turns 64 today.
It’s a furred! It’s a plain! No, it’s Gillian!
Gillian Anderson (“The X-Files”) has been much more selective about her wardrobe since being dubbed “the Geisha Girl From Hell” for her frumpy gold dress and tight curls at the 1995 Golden Globe Awards. “The sexy thing about her is she’s sort of a female Superman,” said stylist Phillip Bloch. “By day, she’s Agent Scully and by night, she’s a glamour girl.”
Ivanka? She’s just 15, going on Seventeen
Ivanka Trump, the 15-year-old model daughter of The Donald and his former wife, Ivana, doesn’t exactly take fashion cues from her power-suited mom. “Our styles are very different,” said Ivanka, who appears on the cover of May’s Seventeen magazine. “I’m into trends, but I’m a lot more casual - jeans or black boot-cut pants, T-shirts.”
We thought Johnny Depp WAS Sandra Bullock
By the way, speaking of blurred identities, a poll by the CD-ROM magazine Blender asked which movie stars would look best with a sex change. The winners: Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Sandra Bullock.
Actually, she was just hoping to brake even
A woman who won the 40-foot bus Sandra Bullock piloted in “Speed” in a phone-in contest has sold it to the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain because she couldn’t find a place to park it. “I got more than the value, which was a lot more than I expected,” Laurel Garces said.
Sooner or later, they were bound to get busted
Hogs & Heifers, the New York honky-tonk famed for its collection of celebrity bras (Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Darryl Hannah) has been ordered to stop patrons from dancing on the bar (the typical prelude to doffing their bras) because the joint doesn’t have a cabaret license. Said owner Allen Dell: “It’s a sad world when they padlock a guy for dancing.”
