Mesa Jury Deliberates

Compiled From Wire Services

A jury deliberated more than four hours without reaching a verdict Tuesday in the rape trial of Cleveland Indians’ star pitcher Jose Mesa.

Mesa left the courtroom flanked by his wife, Mirla, and friends that included the wife of teammate Sandy Alomar. The reliever did not speak with reporters as he stepped into a cold, snowy evening three days before his team’s home opener at nearby Jacobs Field.
