The University of Massachusetts knew nothing about the gifts and other benefits used by a sports agent to woo basketball star Marcus Camby, according to the NCAA. UMass chancellor David K. Scott said he received word from the NCAA enforcement committee, which found the school “did not know nor should have known” about the incident.

Olympics trustees in Salt Lake City got a sneak preview of the 2002 Winter Games logo and one trustee said the public should be pleased. Utah residents won’t see the logo until fall.

Seven-year-old Halo America, the runner-up in 1995 and 1996, wired a topnotch field to win the $500,000 Apple Blossom Handicap at Oaklawn Park at Hot Springs, Ark. The race was to have been the last for the gray mare, who has earned more than $1 million. Now owner John Franks isn’t sure.
