Five Mile Neighborhood Council Meeting Planned
The first Five Mile Neighborhood Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Five Mile Grange Hall on the corner of Strong and Five Mile roads.
The agenda for the first meeting includes explaining the neighborhood council concept, naming the council and electing officers.
There will also be time to discuss issues impacting Five Mile Prairie, including zoning, parks, flooding and stormwater drainage, open space and wildlife, safety, traffic, running paths and bike trails.
The boundaries of Five Mile Prairie make the area part city, part county. Kathy Miotke, a Five Mile resident, said county residents are encouraged to attend the meeting. Neighborhood liaisons will be selected for the city and the county.
Also coming up on Five Mile:
Barry Margolese is proposing to build 183 homes on 51 acres on the south side of Strong Road near Cedar Road.
A community meeting will be held April 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Balboa Elementary School, 3010 W. Holyoke.
Margolese will describe the project. There will be time for questions and comments.
The proposed planned unit development (PUD) is known as “Summerhill” and is being developed by West Jackson Company.
