Viper Production Halted By Strike

Compiled From Wire Services

Production of the Dodge Viper sports car was halted Thursday, the latest victim of the strike at a Chrysler Corp. engine plant that has idled 15,031 workers in the United States and Canada.

Negotiations between high-level Chrysler and United Auto Workers representatives continued in an attempt to settle the weeklong strike by 1,800 workers at the Mound Road engine plant in Detroit.

Talks also were continuing in a strike at the General Motors Corp. assembly plant in Oklahoma City, where 3,500 UAW members walked out April 4 in a dispute largely over staffing levels.
