Robbery Suspect’s Description Released

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police on Friday released a description of the man who robbed the Lincoln Heights branch of Washington Trust Bank on Thursday. Witnesses said the robber was a white male in his 30s, about 5-foot-8 with a slender build, brown hair and sideburns.

The man entered the bank at 3008 E. 29th at about 2:15 p.m. wearing a ski mask, said police spokesman Dick Cottam. The man went to three tellers and took cash.

The robber pulled off the mask when he left the bank and then ran west, Cottam said.

Police found articles of clothing that the robber had worn inside the bank. An immediate search of the area turned up no suspect.

The FBI is investigating the robbery.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
