Rathdrum Man Killed In Collision

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Rathdrum man died on his birthday Saturday after he ran a stop sign at U.S. Highway 95 and Bunco Road near Athol.

Danny Cheatham was 32.

He was driving west along Bunco Road with his 8-month-old son, Alexander. Cheatham failed to stop at the intersection and a 1979 Ford Bronco heading north slammed into Cheatham’s 1984 Accord. Cheatham was thrown from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene at about 3:30 p.m.

His young son was strapped into a child safety seat and suffered only minor cuts, the Idaho State Police reported.

The people in the Bronco - driver Robert Clark and passenger Heather Sherill - were taken to Kootenai Medical Center. Clark was uninjured, and Sherill was treated and released.

Police are investigating the possibility alcohol was involved. , DataTimes
