Sat Problem Solver Chooses Duke

Compiled From Wire Services

The New Hampshire math whiz who detected the first flaw found on the SAT test in 15 years has picked his college of choice - Duke.

Colin Rizzio, 18, who astounded the creators of the college board exam by spotting a flaw in a math question, has accepted an invitation from Duke President Nan Keohane.

Rizzio, of Peterborough, N.H., had eight other offers, but said Duke was always his first choice.

“I loved the campus, the town of Durham, everything about the region,” he said.

Rizzio gained national recognition when it was announced he found a flaw in a multiple-choice answer to an algebra problem on the Scholastic Assessment Test given in October.

“He has a very incisive mind,” wrote Nancy Cole, president of the Educational Testing Service, who sent Duke a letter on Rizzio’s behalf.

Rizzio scored 790 out of 800 on the math section.
