Timberview Christian Dedicates New Building
Timberview Christian Fellowship, a Free Methodist congregation, will celebrate the completion of its new building Sunday with a dedication and open house. Dedication services will be held at 4 and 6 p.m.
The open house will be at 5 p.m. and refreshments will be served. The church’s new home is located at 15511 N. Howe Road in Mead.
Timberview was formed three years ago and had been renting office space and meeting for services at the Whitworth College chapel ever since. Church members purchased the land in Mead with a building already on it in September. They spent three months and more than $200,000 remodeling the existing building. The 10,006-square-foot building now houses a sanctuary, offices and classrooms.
Pastor Matt Thomas, formerly of Opportunity Free Methodist Church, says he wanted to start a Methodist church in Mead because Methodists in the area had to drive long distances to attend church service. The nearest Free Methodist church is nearly 10 miles away.
The church began with only six families, and membership has since grown to 400. Thomas says he hopes the church will keep growing, helped by the expanding population in the Mead area.
