Historic Oregon Hotel Files For Chapter 11
Owners of the landmark Mark Antony Hotel have filed for protection under Chapter 11 of U.S. bankruptcy laws.
The action Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Eugene will allow the 70-year-old hotel to continue operating despite a $1.6 million lien from the Internal Revenue Service for unpaid taxes, said Joe Burkhardt, president of Stand-By Corp. in Reno, Nev.
“The whole idea is to keep it going so that it can work its way out of its financial problems,” Burkhardt said. “It’s basically solvent.”
