Ww Ii Resistance Heroine, Author Dies
Sigrid Heide, a member of the Norwegian World War II resistance who wrote a highly regarded book about her experiences, has died at 86, newspapers reported Thursday.
Heide was jailed in Norway in 1943 for her work against the Nazi occupation.
She was tortured and placed in solitary confinement for a year, but refused to give information. In 1944, she was sent to the Ravensbruck concentration camp in Germany.
After the war, she wrote the book, “Maybe Tomorrow…,” which reviewers praised as a moving account of life in a concentration camp.
Information about the cause of death, funeral plans and survivors was not available.
