Mead Capitalizes On Nc’s Miscues

North Central played its fifth consecutive one-run baseball game Saturday, and Mead was relieved the game came to that point.

Taking advantage of four NC errors, Mead scored five runs in the seventh inning for a 6-5 Greater Spokane League win at NC.

Mead (8-2) stretched its league lead over idle Ferris to 1-1/2 games. The Indians (4-6) have a 2-3 record during their streak of one-run games.

Ryan Corigliano and Nick Froscheiser homered for NC.

Eric Hayden hit a two-run triple in the ninth and scored on Sean Hughes’ single as the visiting Highlanders (5-5) won their third straight in the GSL despite a third-inning triple play by the Pirates (3-6).

Rogers rallied in the bottom of the ninth. Jeff Mace had a one-out, two-run single, then Daryn Steeneck hit a hard grounder that turned into a double play when Shane Anderson was caught in a rundown between third and home.

On the triple play, shortstop Mace caught a liner on a hit-and-run. He threw to second for the second out, and the relay to first registered the third out.
