G-7 Hints Push Dollar Higher
The dollar overcame a brief selloff to end mostly higher Monday after foreign-exchange traders concluded the Group of Seven’s weekend summit communique signaled its reluctance to halt the currency’s ascent.
Emissaries from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States conferred in Washington on Sunday against a backdrop of concern they would act aggressively to stop the dollar, which has risen more than 12 percent against the mark and nearly 10 percent against the yen this year.
