Boys Found Guilty Of Rape In Classroom

Compiled From Wire Services

Two boys, ages 13 and 14, face up to four years in custody for raping a 13-year-old girl behind a chalkboard in a noisy classroom supervised by a substitute teacher.

All three were special education students. The victim was described in court as educationally disabled with an IQ of 60. The boys were said to have behavior problems.

The boys were found guilty Monday of juvenile charges of rape and conspiracy. They are awaiting sentencing on May 29.

Classmates said the rape happened as other students jumped rope and chased one another around the full classroom. The substitute teacher, who was immediately suspended, was alternately reading and dozing off at the front of the room.
