2 More Sheep Killed By Montana Wolves
Two sheep were killed by wolves in northwestern Montana this week, and trappers from the federal Animal Damage Control agency have returned to the area.
One Trego rancher lost roughly half his flock - 25 sheep - to wolves on a single night, June 22.
Larry Handegard at the damage control agency said this week’s attack appears to have been by the Murphy Lake pack, which was also responsible for the June killings. Trego is in the pack’s traditional range.
Federal trappers arrived there on Monday and were using radio telemetry to determine which wolves were responsible.
They picked up the radio signal of a male wolf near the latest sheep killings.
