Grenades Kill Seven On Uganda Highway
Assailants crashed into a vehicle carrying police and, attempting to flee, hurled two grenades onto a crowded highway, killing seven people and wounding up to 40, police said today.
The incident happened Wednesday night on a highway filled with slow-moving vehicles in Kibuye, a mile southwest of the capital of Kampala.
The assailants’ car hit a post office vehicle crammed with police on their way to night duty, said the regional police commissioner, Stephen Oonuyu.
The dead and injured included drivers, passengers and pedestrians, a police statement said. No arrests have been made.
