Man Assaulted At Underhill Park

Compiled From Wire Services

A 26-year-old man had two of his teeth broken when he was attacked in Underhill Park on Friday night, said Dick Cottam, Spokane Police Department spokesman.

The victim said he was walking in the park when two black men in their 20s approached. One shoved the victim and the other hit him in the mouth. While trying to defend himself, the victim received a 2-inch cut on his hand from some sort of edged weapon, Cottam said.

Last month, East Central residents and the city launched a program to make the park less hospitable to criminals by trimming trees and bushes, adding lights and removing picnic tables.
