Official’s Dog Fetches His Van

Associated Press

Talk about an interview that went to the dogs.

As he answered a question during a radio interview Monday, Rep. Jay Dickey was interrupted by a crash. One of his dogs - left in a van with the engine and air conditioner running - apparently nudged the vehicle into drive and it plowed into the radio station.

The Arkansas Republican had just been asked if he was “grooming” a successor. Then came the loud crash.

“Um, just keep talking,” said interviewer Brenda Dixon.

The dog, a Weimaraner named Romy, was the picture of innocence after the crash, sitting in the back seat.

Nobody was injured, but the building sustained $500 to $700 in damages.

“I have never laughed so hard in my life,” said Philip Ellison, general manager of KKOL.
