Bonners Ferry Officer Fired After Probe

From Staff And Wire Reports

A nine-year veteran of the Bonners Ferry police force was fired for alleged misconduct after an internal investigation.

Rob Braniff was terminated July 31. Police Chief Dave Kramer would not give the specific reason for Braniff’s firing, saying it was a personnel matter.

The findings of the internal investigation by the city and the Idaho Bureau of Investigations have been turned over to the Boundary County prosecutor to see if there is grounds for criminal charges against Braniff.

“We called in the state and prosecutor because we wanted to make sure everything was above board so no one thought we were trying to sweep anything under the carpet,” Kramer said. “She (the prosecutor) can do an independent investigation to see if there is any merit for criminal charges.”
