Meetings Set For Housing Project Near Pacific Park In Indian Trail
Western Real Properties is planning several projects near Pacific Park in the Indian Trail neighborhood.
Two community meetings are scheduled Monday morning to talk about the developments.
The first meeting begins at 10 a.m. on the corner of Pacific Park Drive and Indian Trail Road.
Developers are planning to subdivide 4.6 acres on the south side of Pacific Park Drive into 25 lots for a planned unit development.
The development includes 25 houses clustered in groups of two, with common wall construction.
“They’re attached single-family homes,” said Andrew Worlock, city planner. “The advantage over duplexes is that they are almost always owner-occupied.”
The development will include private roads and open spaces, according to the proposal.
Lot sizes will range from 3,825 square feet to 4,900 square feet. The density is 5.4 units per acre.
The second meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Lowell Avenue and Indian Trail.
On the north side of Pacific Park Road, Western Real Properties is proposing two projects.
The first is multifamily housing amid new roads recently installed by the city.
The developer is asking for a rezone of the two-acre area now zoned for single-family homes. With the new zoning, duplexes and fourplexes would be allowed, but a special use permit would be required for apartments.
The second proposal is to rezone a 43,000-square-foot section at the corner of the west side of Indian Trail and Lowell, near the fire station, to allow a professional office building or perhaps a bank or post office. The lot is now zoned for multifamily housing.
The community meetings are informal discussions between neighbors and developers regarding the projects and issues.
Public hearings will be scheduled for later dates.
