Gm, Uaw Strike Deal In Truck Plant Talks
General Motors Corp. and the United Auto Workers signed a tentative agreement Thursday for hourly workers at GM’s Detroit commercial truck plant.
Separately, negotiations continued in an effort to avert a threatened strike at the automaker’s Willow Run and Romulus transmission plants outside Detroit. The UAW has said it may strike if no agreement is reached by 8:59 p.m. PDT today.
Willow Run, with 5,320 workers, supplies front- and rear-drive transmissions. Its sister plant in Romulus has 360 workers who make rear-drive transmissions.
